Duck Soup (1933)

75

Placeholder until I think of a synopsis

The amount of gags they were able to fit into 70 minutes was insane, it was no brakes for the whole runtime. Hilariously prescient in its deconstruction of nationalism and the politics of war. I won’t lie: quite a few jokes in the beginning did not land for me, but got more effective as the movie went on. The spy duo in Chicolini and Pinky were absolutely hilarious, and stole the show for me. Firefly, in his own right, produced so many zingers throughout the movie that I almost could not keep up. That sequence following the broken mirror, and the Mrs. Teasdale house war sequence were the best ones for me. The court scene was hilarious too.
