Robocop (1987)

I think this movie is tied with Starship Troopers as Verhoeven’s best. RoboCop strikes a careful balance between the American sci-fi blockbuster and social commentary. It is comically entertaining and cartoonishly bloody like many of Verhoeven’s other films, with the macabre absurdity accentuating issues within the American brand of society and capitalism. The villain characters are dialed up to 11 in their ludicrous propensity for violence, as they are dehumanized to promote this audacity.
